FAQ
How much does microwave repair cost in Charlotte, NC?+
Most microwave repairs run $140–$320 including our flat $80 service call, credited toward the repair if you approve. Door switches, turntable motors, and fuses are on the low end; magnetrons, high-voltage diodes, and built-in trim kits run higher. For built-in and over-the-range models, repair almost always beats the $1,200+ replacement cost.
Is it worth repairing a microwave or should I replace it?+
For built-in and over-the-range microwaves — almost always repair. Replacement runs $600–$2,000+ once you factor in trim kits, hood vent re-tie-in, and installation labor. For sub-$200 countertop units, replacement usually wins. We tell you up front which side of that line your unit falls on, no upsell.
Why is my microwave running but not heating?+
The usual suspects are a failed magnetron (the high-voltage tube that produces microwaves), a blown high-voltage diode, a failed high-voltage capacitor, or a faulty door switch preventing the high-voltage circuit from energizing. These are all dangerous components — there are lethal voltages stored in microwave capacitors even when unplugged. Don't open it yourself; we have the discharge tools and training to do this safely.
Why is my microwave sparking inside?+
Sparking (called arcing) usually means a damaged waveguide cover (the small mica panel inside), a chipped or burned interior paint coating exposing bare metal, or a damaged stirrer/antenna. Stop using it immediately — continued operation will destroy the magnetron. We replace the waveguide cover and resurface or quote replacement during the same visit.
Do you repair over-the-range and built-in microwaves?+
Yes. Over-the-range (OTR) and built-in microwave repair are routine for our Charlotte techs. We service Whirlpool, KitchenAid, GE, Samsung, LG, Bosch, Frigidaire, Maytag, Sharp, and Monogram. We bring the lift gear needed to drop and reinstall OTR units without damaging your cabinetry.
Are microwave repairs covered by your warranty?+
Yes — every microwave repair we perform comes with our 90-day workmanship warranty plus the manufacturer's warranty on new parts (typically 1 year on magnetrons, diodes, and control boards). If the same issue returns within 90 days, we come back at no cost.
